To have discovered you are pregnant, taken the time to get used to this idea, envisioned the months, years and decades of your life ahead and then have this new reality suddenly disappear can be anywhere from disappointing to devastating - or something else altogether, we all experience early pregnancy loss differently.
The early loss of a pregnancy is a highly adaptive and intelligent process within our bodies, but that doesn't make it easy. Affecting an estimated 1 in 4 pregnancies, miscarriage is a lot more common that we often think.
Most of the time, miscarriage is not a medical emergency and does not require a trip to the hospital. Believe it or not, miscarriage can be an incredibly powerful time where we can feel into the idea of really trusting our bodies and taking responsibility for our journeys.
My miscarriages, though disappointing, have been times of great trust, release, growth and reverence. I have learned a lot through these short pregnancy experiences and have written about them here.
If you think or know you are experiencing a miscarriage, reach out. You don't need to go through the physiological, emotional or spiritual elements of this journey alone.
